Deliciously crunchy onion ring chips, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 quart vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions into rings.
  2. Soak the onion rings in buttermilk for at least 1 hour.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Remove onion rings from buttermilk and coat in the flour mixture.
  6. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
