A traditional German onion cake perfect for gatherings or as a savory snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1.5 cups onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup bacon, diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, sauté the bacon until crisp, then add the onions and cook until translucent.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, sour cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and caraway seeds until well combined.
  4. Fold in the sautéed onions and bacon.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
