  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, sour cream, and vanilla.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into strips and twist each strip into a figure-eight shape.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry the twisted cookies in batches until they are golden brown.
  8. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.
