- 1 block firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomato, onion) for serving
- Pita bread or flatbreads
- Hummus or tahini sauce for dressing
- Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture.
- Slice the tofu into thin strips.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
- Marinate the tofu strips in the mixture for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the tofu until golden brown on all sides.
- Warm the pita bread or flatbreads.
- Assemble the döner by adding cooked tofu and fresh vegetables in the bread.
- Drizzle with hummus or tahini sauce.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier version, add chili powder to the marinade.
- Tofu can also be grilled for a smoky flavor.
