This Tofu Döner is a delicious vegetarian alternative to the traditional döner kebab, packed with flavors and spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomato, onion) for serving
  • Pita bread or flatbreads
  • Hummus or tahini sauce for dressing

Instructions

  1. Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture.
  2. Slice the tofu into thin strips.
  3. In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  4. Marinate the tofu strips in the mixture for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the tofu until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Warm the pita bread or flatbreads.
  7. Assemble the döner by adding cooked tofu and fresh vegetables in the bread.
  8. Drizzle with hummus or tahini sauce.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add chili powder to the marinade.
  • Tofu can also be grilled for a smoky flavor.
