Sellerieschnitzel is a delicious vegetarian alternative to traditional schnitzel, made from celery root, breaded and fried to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large celery root
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel the celery root and slice it into 1/2 inch thick slices.
  2. Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Dredge each slice of celery root in flour, dip in eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded slices until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
  • Serve with lemon wedges for added flavor.
