A hearty and comforting German noodle casserole made with traditional Schupfnudeln, often served with a creamy sauce and topped with cheese.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams Schupfnudeln
  • 200 grams grated cheese
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 100 grams chopped onions
  • 150 grams cooked ham

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté chopped onions until translucent.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, salt, and pepper.
  4. Combine Schupfnudeln, sautéed onions, and chopped ham in a baking dish.
  5. Pour the egg and cream mixture over the noodles and mix well.
  6. Top with grated cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs such as parsley or chives.
  • This dish can be made with leftover Schupfnudeln or other type of noodles.
