- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cooling before decorating for the fault line effect.
