- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, vegetable oil, food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and grease lightly.
- Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the skillet.
- Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown.
- Serve warm with cream cheese frosting or maple syrup.
Notes
