- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup grated cheese (Emmental or similar)
- 1/2 cup fried onions
- In a bowl, mix flour, eggs, milk, salt, and nutmeg until a thick batter forms.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Using a Spätzle maker, drop the batter into the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface.
- Remove and drain the Spätzle, then mix with cheese.
- Transfer to a serving dish and top with fried onions.
Notes
- For added flavor, use a mix of cheeses.
- Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
