- 500 grams flour
- 100 grams butter
- 250 ml milk
- 100 grams sugar
- 1 packet of dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon saffron
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Warm the milk and dissolve the butter in it.
- Add saffron, sugar, and yeast; let it sit for 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add the milk mixture to the flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Shape the dough into S-shapes and place them on a baking sheet.
- Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the tops with whisked egg and bake for 10-12 minutes.
Notes
- For a festive touch, sprinkle some sugar on top before baking.
- These cookies are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
