- 800 g potatoes
- 400 g broccoli
- 200 ml cream
- 200 g cheese (e.g., Cheddar)
- 2 eggs
- 1 onion
- 1 clove garlic
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Nutmeg to taste
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Peel and slice the potatoes thinly.
- Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for about 3 minutes.
- In a pan, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a bowl, whisk together the cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by the broccoli and half of the cheese.
- Add the remaining potatoes and pour the cream mixture over the top.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake for approximately 45-50 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
Notes
- Let the gratin rest for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set.
- Try adding other vegetables like carrots or cauliflower for variation.
