Husarenkrapfen are traditional German pastries filled with jam and often dusted with powdered sugar. They are perfect for coffee breaks and dessert.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams all-purpose flour
  • 125 grams unsalted butter
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 200 grams fruit jam (apricot or raspberry)
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix flour, butter, sugar, egg yolk, and salt in a bowl until a dough forms.
  3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  5. Place a teaspoon of fruit jam in the center of each circle and fold over to form a crescent shape.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let them cool and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, try using chocolate or nut fillings instead of fruit jam.
  • These pastries can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
