A delicious German dessert featuring layers of meringue, cream, and fruit.

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups mixed berries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 225°F (110°C).
  2. Whip egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add sugar and vanilla while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. Spoon the meringue onto a baking sheet and shape it into a round cake layer.
  4. Bake for about 1.5 hours until the meringue is dry and crisp.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  6. Mix in the lemon juice and cornstarch.
  7. Once the meringue is cooled, layer it with whipped cream and berries.
  8. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.

  • For best results, ensure all mixing bowls and utensils are completely clean and free of grease.
  • You can substitute berries with seasonal fruits such as peaches or cherries.
