A classic Chicago-style deep dish pizza with a buttery crust and layered cheese and toppings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, and salt.
  3. Melt the butter and mix it into the dry ingredients.
  4. Add the egg and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Press the dough into a deep dish pizza pan, making sure to cover the sides.
  6. Layer mozzarella cheese on the bottom of the crust.
  7. Add crumbled sausage, bell peppers, and onions on top of the cheese.
  8. Pour pizza sauce over the ingredients.
  9. Sprinkle Italian seasoning on top.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Notes

  • Let the pizza cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Experiment with different toppings based on your preference.
