A traditional recipe for fluffy and flavorful knöpfle buns, perfect as a side or snack.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 300 ml milk
  • 10 grams salt
  • 30 grams yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 50 grams butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour, followed by the egg and melted butter, and knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  5. Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet.
  6. Let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  8. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • These buns are best served fresh out of the oven.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
