Butterhörnchen are delicious buttery crescent rolls that are perfect for breakfast or as a snack.

- 500 grams all-purpose flour
- 250 grams butter
- 100 grams sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 200 milliliters milk, lukewarm
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk and let it sit until foamy.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add butter and eggs, then the yeast mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and cut into triangles.
- Roll each triangle into a crescent shape and place on a baking tray.
- Let them rise again for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Brush the rolls with melted butter after baking for an extra rich flavor.
- These can be filled with chocolate or jam before rolling for a sweet treat.
