- 4 ripe pears
- 150 g poppy seeds
- 200 g butter
- 200 g sugar
- 4 eggs
- 300 g flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Peel and slice the pears.
- In a pan, melt butter and mix with sugar to create a caramel base. Pour this into a cake pan.
- Arrange pear slices on top of the caramel.
- In a bowl, combine poppy seeds, eggs, flour, baking powder, vanilla, butter, and salt. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the pears.
- Bake for about 45-50 minutes.
- Let it cool slightly, then flip onto a serving plate.
Notes
- The cake can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Great with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
