A traditional Bavarian fruit bread made with nuts and dried fruits.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams mixed dried fruits (e.g., raisins, apricots, figs)
  • 200 grams nuts (e.g., walnuts, almonds)
  • 400 grams flour
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 250 ml warm water
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 60 ml vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix warm water with yeast and sugar; let it activate for 10 minutes.
  3. Combine flour, salt, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the activated yeast mixture and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients; mix until a dough forms.
  5. Fold in the dried fruits and nuts.
  6. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased baking pan.
  7. Let it rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool before slicing.

Notes

  • This bread keeps well and tastes better after a day.
  • Slice thinly and serve with butter or cheese.
