A delicious tart made with fresh apples and a buttery crust.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 5 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar (for apples)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter (for topping)
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, 1 cup butter, 3 tablespoons sugar, and salt until crumbly. Add egg yolk and mix until dough forms.
- Press the dough into a tart pan and bake for 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, toss sliced apples with 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Arrange apples over the baked crust and dot with 1 tablespoon butter.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
- Can substitute apples with pears for a different flavor.
