A delicious tart made with fresh apples and a buttery crust.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 5 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for apples)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, 1 cup butter, 3 tablespoons sugar, and salt until crumbly. Add egg yolk and mix until dough forms.
  3. Press the dough into a tart pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, toss sliced apples with 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  5. Arrange apples over the baked crust and dot with 1 tablespoon butter.
  6. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender.
  7. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
  • Can substitute apples with pears for a different flavor.
