Delicious German cheesecake with a layer of apple and a crumbly streusel topping.

Ingredients

  • 200 g butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 400 g quark
  • 150 g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 500 g apples, peeled and sliced
  • 150 g flour (for streusel)
  • 100 g sugar (for streusel)
  • 100 g butter (for streusel)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Incorporate quark, flour, and baking powder until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a prepared springform pan.
  6. Arrange the sliced apples on top of the batter.
  7. In another bowl, mix the ingredients for the streusel until crumbly.
  8. Sprinkle the streusel over the apples.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.
  • Can be topped with whipped cream.
