A classic French pastry that combines a creamy custard with a rich crust, perfect for dessert lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 liter whole milk
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 100 grams cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare the pie crust in a tart pan and blind bake for 10 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk with sugar and salt until warm.
  4. In a bowl, whisk the eggs and cornstarch until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the warm milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  6. Pour the mixture into the baked crust.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes until set and lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
  9. Serve chilled, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Top with fresh fruits or a caramel glaze for extra flavor.
  • Can be made a day in advance for better texture.
